incontestability clause

incontestability clause
A clause in a life or health insurance policy providing that after the policy has been in force for a given length of time (e.g. two or three years) the insurer shall not be able to contest it as to statements contained in the application; and, in the case of health insurance, the provision also states that no claim shall be denied or reduced on the grounds that a condition not excluded by name at the time of issue existed prior to the effective date
